I've been the fastest kid on the team and the guy watching practice from a bike. More than once. Three bone stress injuries in two years. A foot I raced an entire season on, because back then I only knew one way: something hurts, keep going. A shin I ignored until walking hurt. Then six months of rebuilding, and a first race back at 4:08 for 1500 meters. Two weeks after that, a femur. The one that arrived while I was doing everything right, and made me rethink what kind of runner I get to be. Running has taken things I planned whole years around: seasons, races, the trips where a team comes home different than it left. My biggest fear was never losing fitness. It's missing those. My best season ever came from patience, not volume. The engine is real. The work is building a frame that can carry it. I'm mid-comeback, not post-comeback. Still here.
